PHD STUDIES
The PhD programme in Environmental Economics starts with two years of courses in economics. The following four specialised courses are offered by the EEU every second year, and the next intake will be in 2012. These courses are open to outside participants as well as our own PhD students. For information about the courses, see the links in the left-hand columns. These were the dates between which the courses took place:
PHD COURSES IN ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS SPRING 2012
The EEU offered a suite of three coordinated courses during the spring of 2012.
These courses form part of our PhD program in environmental economics with a particular focus on developing countries, financed by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). We have a much larger focus than earlier on climate economics, catering to a need we have identified for more climate economists in capacity building in many counitries. The following courses were offered:
Students can apply for either one or several of these courses. Courses 1 and 3 are graduate courses in environmental economics to which we have, for meany years, admitted extra students (researchers and teachers) from abroad.
We award eight Sida-funded full scholarships to candidates from developing countries. The scholarship includes airfare, accommodation and subsistance grant.
Course 2 is a partly new course that is intended for economists but its focus is more on the functioning of ecosystems and of the climate system. The second half of the course will be taught in Stockholm at the Beijer Institute. We expect most applicants to apply to one course but applications to two or even three courses will be considered if they are well motivated.
