Development Economics


 

Welcome to the homepage of the Development Economics Unit!

Development Economics is one of the subjects offered by the Department of Economics at the University of Gothenburg. Development research has held a strong position in the department for more than two decades. There are courses on the undergraduate and graduate levels and research within this field plays an important role in the department. More than 40 PhD theses have been produced in the unit since 1979.

At present the staff include four professors along with associate professors, research fellows, lecturers, PhD candidates, one administrator and several unit associates.

Current research in the unit can be divided into some broad categories:

  • Growth and Macro
  • Globalization issues
  • Industrial Development
  • Poverty, Income Distribution and Labour Markets.
